About Payal Patel
Payal Patel is a board certified family nurse practitioner (FNP) who is dedicated to give friendly care to her patients and their families at Lakeshore Gastroenterology and Liver Disease Institute. She works closely with a team of specialists and provides care for patients and their GI related procedures.
Payal is passionate about patient-centered care and believes in building a long-lasting and trusting relationship. She listens to patients needs and provides care with compassion.
Payal’s interest in the nursing field started at an early age when as a child she would occasionally shadow her mother who practiced in the nursing field. Payal started volunteering at Lutheran General Hospital in high school followed by internships which lead to her first job as a nursing assistant. She then completed her bachelors degree in nursing and began working as an RN. Payal explored multiple specialties including cardiac telemetry, general surgery, and outpatient gastroenterology and decided to work within the specialty as a nurse practitioner.
She received her master's degree in nursing with a subspecialty in family practice from Olivet Nazarene University and completed her bachelor of science in nursing. She has worked at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Northshore University Health System. Currently she is a nurse practitioner at Lakeshore Gastroenterology and Liver Disease Institute. Payal has a reputation for being calm and caring with her patients.
Her interests include colon cancer screening awareness and prevention, and management of acute or chronic GI conditions to prevent further progression of disease. Payal strongly believes in being proactive about any condition versus reactive, as early detection and treatment can prevent pain and suffering.
As a nurse practitioner at LGLDI, Payal works with a multidisciplinary team of specialists focused on gastroenterology, endoscopy, and surgery to offer comprehensive care for patients. She works closely providing nursing care for patients in acute care and outpatient management. She is also focused on continually improving services offered by the facility.
She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Nurses Certification Board (AANCB).
