About Dr. Omar
Dr. Hina Omar believes in delivering comprehensive and compassionate healthcare. She places emphasis on the individual patient’s symptoms and social circumstances. She believes in counseling patients in preventative measures to help to maintain a healthy digestive system.
Dr. Omar has a longstanding commitment to patient care in the region, with a special interest in women’s health and the necessary resources for patient care. Dr. Omar is board certified in Internal Medicine. She has trained in the latest Gastroenterology techniques to diagnose and treat patients.
She was Chief Resident for Internal Medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (LGH) where she developed her clinical approach for compassion toward patients. She has dedication in teaching other trainees as instructor of Clinical Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University, Chicago School of Medicine (RFU-CMS). She successfully completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology at LGH and has served the Chicago north suburban community, caring for patients as an intern and resident.
Dr. Omar is involved in advancing the field of Gastroenterology. She is a published researcher in high-impact subspecialty journals including the Journal of Gastric Disorders and Therapy and The American College of Gastroenterology Journal. In her work she recognized the impact that many medications (such as opioids) can have on the digestive system. Currently she is overseeing work to assess the effects of these medications on healthcare. Her goal is to help physicians recognize the challenges of various medications and tailor individualized care to patients.
She has been a lecturer on Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and was recognized for her outstanding contributions by both the American Liver Foundation and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Omar is a member of several subspecialty gastroenterology professional societies.
When not helping her patients, Dr. Omar spends her time with her husband and three children.
